JAL Sakura Lounge Haneda Terminal 1 South Wing (Before Renovation): A Record Before It Closes Until June 2027

On the early morning of August 21, 2026, I visited the JAL Sakura Lounge in Haneda Airport Terminal 1 South Wing as a JAL Global Club (JGC) member.
The South Wing Sakura Lounge has been closed for renovation since October 8, 2026, and is scheduled to reopen in June 2027. This article is a record of how it looked before the renovation. For the renovated North Wing, see our North Wing report.

How to get in
The lounge is open to JMB Sapphire and above, JGC members, JAL domestic First Class passengers and others. One companion can also enter (children under 3 do not count). This time I entered as a JGC member.
Sofa seats facing the window

I sat in a sofa seat facing the window. High-backed sofas surround a round table, and the runway stretches out beyond the window. I could see the tail of a JAL aircraft outside.
Beer and snacks
I had a beer and a mix of rice crackers. The draft beer came in a tall glass.
Besides beer, soft drinks and other alcohol are available. There are no meals; the snacks are the main offering.
Features of the South Wing before the renovation
- About 350 seats, somewhat fewer than the North Wing (about 390)
- The interior, drinks and snacks are said to be the same as the North Wing
- A shower is said to be available
While the South Wing is closed, eligible members use the North Wing lounge. The North Wing has been renovated into four areas, but it gets crowded while the South Wing is closed.
What we liked
- From the sofa seat facing the window, I could watch the runway and planes.
- It opens early in the morning, so I could relax with a beer and snacks.
What could be better
- No meals are served; the snacks are the main offering.
Summary
The South Wing Sakura Lounge was a lounge where you could watch the runway from sofa seats facing the window. I look forward to seeing how it is reborn when it reopens in June 2027.
Until then, you will use the North Wing Sakura Lounge.
